ESI is a scheme that offers insurance coverage for workers in case of health issues, or medical treatment is needed. The scheme typically covers employees earning ₹21,000 or lower per month. So, if you earn more than this amount, you may not have ESI as a part of your salary terms.
Applicable for-
- All classes of employees/workers of an organization employing 10 or more employees.
- This scheme is applicable for those classes of establishment which all are involved in hazardous classes.
- This scheme is also applicable for non-seasonal, non-power and power using factories and hotel, shops and other establishment employing 10 or more employees/workers.
- Under the employment state insurance scheme voluntary membership can be taker, if the number of employees in the establishment is less than 10.
